Overview

The Laser MX is Stöckli's women's sport carver for 26/27 (article 41020328), the Lady counterpart to the Laser CX in the Swiss brand's piste line. It is the second generation of the MX: the outgoing model was a 118-67-99 slalom shape, while the current ski widens to 119-71-101 mm with radii of 11.0 m (146 cm), 12.1 m (152), 13.2 m (158) and 14.3 m (164). Stöckli positions it for women "who value comfort and control" and builds it around a Light Core, Turtle Shell 2.0 Titanal, Softflex and Adaptive Contact Length. It is sold ski-only from 1,199 EUR or with one of four Stöckli plate-and-binding sets.

On-snow performance

On paper this is a quick, forgiving piste ski rather than a race derivative. The 71 mm waist and 11–14 m radii put it in short-to-medium turn territory, and the Adaptive Contact Length shovel is designed to move the edge contact point forward as the ski is tilted, so the construction suggests a ski that hooks up early without feeling grabby at low edge angles. Turtle Shell 2.0 is the key to its character: Titanal with cut-outs that stay torsionally neutral at leisurely speeds and interlock when the ski is loaded hard, which is Stöckli's way of giving a light ski composure on firm snow. The longer, flatter Tail Rocker should make the release easier and keep the ski from hanging on at the end of the arc. At 1,395–1,650 g per ski it is light for a metal piste ski, and owners reviewing it on Stöckli's site describe it as light, quick and obliging; for genuinely high-speed GS arcs the heavier Laser SC or the unisex CX will be calmer.

Construction & specs explained

  • Construction: Sandwich System, made in Switzerland.
  • Core: Light Core — Stöckli's lighter European wood core, slightly softer and suppler than the race cores.
  • Metal: Turtle Shell 2.0 (TS) — Titanal with cut-outs that interlock under load for stability at speed.
  • Softflex (SF) + Lady: thinner layers for a softer flex that lighter skiers can bend.
  • Adaptive Contact Length (ACL): widest point of the shovel set further forward, with a slight rocker.
  • Tail Rocker (TR): longer, flatter rocker at the tail for a playful release.
  • Edges: Solid Metal Edge Light (SME Light); base: Racing-Graphite; surface: Polyamid with the new textured TGR finish.
  • Sidecut: 119-71-101 mm, identical for all lengths.
  • Radius: 11.0 m (146), 12.1 m (152), 13.2 m (158), 14.3 m (164).
  • Weight: 1,395 g (146), 1,470 g (152), 1,535 g (158), 1,650 g (164) per ski; Stöckli lists 2.79–3.30 kg per pair.
  • Plate and binding sets: SRT 12 with SRT Speed D20 or SRT Carbon plate, MC 12 F80 with Fullflex plate, or MC 11 F80 with MC D20 plate — all GripWalk compatible.

Who it's for & comparisons

The Laser MX suits intermediate to advanced women who carve groomers at moderate to brisk speeds and want Stöckli grip without a heavy, demanding ski. Within the brand, the Stockli Laser cx is the closest relative: a 69 mm carver with a 10.5–15.4 m radius run and about 1,710 g per ski at 170 cm, so the MX is the lighter, softer-flexing version in women's lengths. Sportier women who want tighter arcs should look at the Laser MP, Stöckli's 67 mm women's slalom ski. Outside Stöckli, the Head Super Joy is a 75 mm women's carver with its own system binding and a similar comfort-performance brief; the Salomon S max n12 is a 72 mm women's carver at 1,380–1,630 g per ski, a direct weight-for-weight rival; and the Atomic Cloud c12 is a 69.5 mm system carver that trades some of the Stöckli's lightness for a more locked-in piste feel.

Pros, cons and verdict

Pros

  • Light for a Titanal carver: 1,395–1,650 g per ski.
  • Turtle Shell 2.0 gives stability at speed without a stiff low-speed feel.
  • Softflex and Adaptive Contact Length make initiation easy for lighter skiers.
  • Four plate-and-binding options, all GripWalk compatible.
  • Swiss build with the Racing-Graphite base.

Cons

  • Premium price: 1,199 EUR before the binding set.
  • Longest length is 164 cm, so taller or heavier women run out of ski.
  • A Stöckli plate system limits binding choice.
  • Piste-only geometry; 71 mm gives little help in soft snow.

Verdict: A light, forgiving Swiss carver for women who want Stöckli edge grip in an easy-flexing package. Pick the MP if you want sharper short turns, or the Laser CX if you need more length and mass.
