Kästle RX9 — Review

The RX9 is the entry point into Kästle's adult RX race-carve line. Wider underfoot than the RX11/RX12 at 72 mm with a forgiving 12.6 m radius and Symbio Core (poplar with synthetic absorber and a single titanal sheet) construction, it is positioned for intermediate-to-advanced piste skiers who want Kästle's World-Cup-derived feel without the full race-ski demand. Semi-cap sandwich sidewall and Hook Free tail are clear signals that this is a forgiving design, not a competition tool.

The RX9 is fast and stable for what it is. On an early-morning blue or red, the single titanal sheet and Symbio Core deliver more edge bite than most 72 mm carvers in this price tier; the Fast Grip shovel keeps the tip locked through grip-loss zones. Where it shows its restraint is the Hook Free tail — exit from a hard arc is rounded rather than snappy, which means it's easier to drift the back end if the front pressure goes off. At intermediate speeds it is genuinely confidence-building; pushed near the RX11's working range it starts to feel out of its depth.
