Kästle RX11 — Review

The RX11 sits between Kästle's RX9 sport carver and RX12 race flagships. Same 122/68/104 mm sidecut and 11 m radius as the RX12 SL but built with a Twin Core wood block and double titanal lay-up that comes in 150 g lighter (1,330 g per ski at 168 cm). The lengths run all the way from 155 to 178 cm, which is a useful detail — depending on length the ski behaves like a slalom carver or a tighter GS-flavoured cruiser.

On firm groomers the RX11 hits the sweet spot between race precision and weekend usability. The double-titanal twin-core layup carries enough edge bite to lay clean trenches at speed but the lighter weight means it doesn’t demand the leg strength of a full RX12. Edge change is fast, rebound is energetic without being violent, and the Hollowtech tip damps chatter on harder afternoon surfaces. Push it past about 1,500 vertical metres at a real pace and the lighter platform shows its limits — it doesn’t suppress chop the way the RX12 GS does.

Closest internal sibling is the Kästle RX12 SL — same sidecut and radius, but the RX12 SL is 150 g heavier per ski with full race construction. Cross-shop: Head Supershape e magnum is the closest German rival in the race-carve segment, lighter still but less pop; Stockli Laser sx is Swiss-built with similar intent; Volkl Racetiger rc is the mainstream German alternative at a lower price.
