Kästle DX84 — Review

The Kästle DX84 is the Austrian brand's more approachable 84 mm all-mountain ski — built on the same 84 mm-waist frontside platform as the MX84 but with Kästle's lighter Symbio Core construction in place of the MX's race-derived stiffness. It is positioned for intermediate-to-advanced skiers who want Kästle's signature edge hold without the demanding flex of the flagship MX line.

Sidecut radii of 12.6 m at 154 cm climbing to 17.7 m at 178 cm produce a usable shape from short-radius energy in the smaller sizes to longer arcs in the longer lengths. The Symbio Core's synthetic absorber dampens vibration without adding mass, and the lighter weight (1350 g at 154 cm to 1720 g at 178 cm — markedly lighter than the MX84 at the same lengths) gives the DX84 a more forgiving, easier feel through edge transitions.
