Elan Primetime n3 w — Review

The Elan Primetime N°3 W sits one step above the N°2 W in the women’s Primetime line for the 26-27 season. It uses the same 127/73/111 mm carving chassis, the asymmetric Amphibio profile, and ships pre-mounted on the Shift X plate with an EL 9.0 GW SHIFT or Protector SHIFT 10.0 GW binding. Lengths run 144, 151, 158 and 165 cm. Elan positions the N°3 as the lightest ski in the series, intended for advancing intermediates who want quick edge-to-edge response and predictable turn entry without race-level stiffness. As a fully integrated system ski, it is built for groomed resort terrain only.

The N°3 W lays into short and medium-short turns very willingly thanks to a 9.1 m radius at 144 cm rising to 12.2 m at 165 cm. The Amphibio profile keeps the inside edge engaged for steady grip while the rockered outside edge lets the tail wash off cleanly when you need to scrub speed. Compared to the N°2 W it feels noticeably crisper through the apex — the same Mono Ti layer combined with what Elan describes as the lightest layup in the series gives a quicker, more energetic rebound. Push it past mid-resort speeds on chattering ice and you will run out of damping; high-end stability sits below the N°4 W+ and well below the N°5 W BE. Off-piste capability is incidental: the narrow waist and on-piste construction mean variable snow remains a chore.

The N°3 W combines a Power Woodcore with a single Mono Ti reinforcement to deliver more rebound than a non-metal layup without the mass of a dual-Ti construction. RST (Racing Sidewall Technology) full sidewalls run edge to edge for direct power transfer, and the Sintered High Speed Gliding base accepts warm-temperature waxes well. The Shift X plate locks the binding into Elan’s integrated interface and provides leverage underfoot. Geometry stays at 127/73/111 mm across all lengths; radii are 9.1 m at 144, 10.1 m at 151, 11.1 m at 158 and 12.2 m at 165, so longer lengths sweep into medium-radius arcs while short lengths bias toward quick slalom-style turns. Elan does not publish per-length weights and we did not find a verified retailer figure to cite, so the weight field is omitted from the spec sheet rather than estimated.

The N°3 W suits intermediate to advancing women who want a livelier, more responsive ride than the N°2 W without jumping to the more demanding N°4 W+. Pick it if you mostly ski groomers, like short-to-medium carved turns and want a system ski you can unpack and ride. Skip it if you want top-end stability for high-speed GS turns, ski off-piste regularly or need a binding of your own choice. The men’s parallel is the Elan Primetime 33, which shares the same waist platform in longer lengths. Within the women’s line the Elan Primetime n2 w is the friendlier entry below and the Elan Primetime n4 w+ the harder-charging step up. From other brands the Head Supershape e v8 is a similar-waist progressive frontside option with a slightly more damped feel.
