Elan Primetime 44 — Review

The Elan Primetime 44 is the narrow-waisted base model of Elan's Primetime piste line, sitting below the wider Primetime 44+ and the top-tier Primetime 55 Black Edition. With a 121/69/102 sidecut held constant across all five lengths and the asymmetric Amphibio profile (camber on the inside edge, light rocker on the outside), it targets recreational and intermediate piste skiers who want a precise short-to-medium-radius carver without the demands of a full race construction.

On groomers the Primetime 44 initiates a turn quickly thanks to the narrow 69 mm waist and short radius — 12.2 m at 151 cm climbing to 16.5 m at 179 cm. The Amphibio profile makes the engagement feel forgiving on the outside edge while keeping a clean cambered grip on the inside edge through the body of the turn. Mono Ti reinforcement over a Dual Density Woodcore gives it solid edge hold on hardpack without becoming intimidating at moderate speeds. Push past comfortable cruising speed on icy snow and you will feel the limits of a single titanal layer versus the stiffer Primetime 55 BE, but at intermediate-to-advanced piste tempos it stays composed and predictable.

Inside is a Dual Density Woodcore wrapped in the RST (Racing Sidewall Technology) sidewall and topped with a single Mono Ti layer. The base is a sintered High Speed Gliding base.
