The Maven 103 CTI targets all‑mountain and freeride skiers who want one ski to trust when the resort serves up everything from wind buff to trees and chalk. At just over 103 mm underfoot, it balances real float with enough edge hold for morning groomers. The feel is lively yet notably damp for the weight, with medium‑stiff longitudinal flex and supportive torsion from CTI reinforcement. It rewards a forward, directional stance, delivering security at speed without feeling punishing. Ambitious intermediates can grow into it, while advanced riders will appreciate its calm confidence on rowdy, variable days.
On firm corduroy, the long cambered section provides reliable bite, and the 17 m radius encourages medium to long arcs with a planted, confidence‑building feel. Edge‑to‑edge response is quick for the width, aided by a precise sidewall zone. In late‑day chop, the CTI layup mutes vibration, and the beveled HRZN tip smooths turn initiation so you can stay centered and composed. It is not a trench‑carving specialist, and short slalom‑style zips require deliberate input, but it tracks cleanly, releases predictably, and the tail feels supportive without being overly locked or punishing.
In soft snow, the combination of 103.5 mm waist and HRZN 3D tip generates buoyancy and keeps the front from pearling when the density changes. The subtle rocker lines make it easy to smear, pivot, and slarve through trees, yet the directional shape holds a strong fall‑line when you open it up. The ash/poplar core and Titanal‑infused laminate keep the ride quiet at speed and composed when landing small drops. In heavier coastal powder or refrozen debris, its mass and damping reduce deflection, trading a touch of lightning quickness for welcome composure.
The 20/65/15 rocker layout means modest tip and tail rise paired to long camber, blending float, stability, and edge grip. Dimensions in 170 cm are 130.5‑103.5‑119.5 mm, shaping intuitive turn entry and solid mid‑turn support. A 17 m radius favors smooth, speed‑friendly arcs but still permits tighter pivots when steered. At roughly 1610 g per ski, weight balances agility with damping for resort chop. Sizes 156–178 cm let you size up for stability and float or down for maneuverability; most riders will prefer a length around nose height for a confident, versatile feel.
Against the Kore 93 Ti W, the Maven 103 CTI is wider, calmer, and more planted in junk, while the 93 is quicker edge‑to‑edge on hardpack and livelier in bumps. Compared to the Maven 94 CTI, you gain float and high‑speed poise but lose a bit of snap in tight trees. The tune favors a forward, directional stance; it is not oriented to switch or park play. Powerful chargers may still look to a stiffer 105–108 mm option, whereas lighter or newer skiers should consider sizing down for easier handling.
