Overview
The ATK Front 12 is a new front-brake tech touring binding from ATK, replacing the conventional ski brake with an automatic front-mounted brake that disengages in walk mode and arms automatically on release or fall. It targets advanced and expert tourers who want full ATK retention behavior with simplified transitions.

- Brake widths 86 / 91 / 97 / 102 / 108 / 120 mm: full freeride-tour range — fits anything from narrow tours to fat freeride skis.
- 12 mm heel elastic travel (Elastic Response System): same as the rest of the Raider/Front family — stable release under load.

On-snow performance
The Front 12 delivers the Raider 12's release behavior with a different brake-engagement workflow. The Cam Release System gives precise lateral release; the 12 mm of heel elastic travel keeps retention through chop. The front brake is the binding's defining feature — once you've used it, walking up with the brake retracted feels cleaner than fiddling with side levers on a Raider 12. ATK's Magneto Heel Flaps adapt to slope angle during the climb, and Snow Pack Proof prevents ice and snow build-up in the locking mechanism.
Durability and service
ATK's standard 7075 aluminum + stainless steel + POM materials. The front-brake mechanism adds parts compared to a Raider 12 — that means more potential points of failure long-term, but ATK's record on durability is strong. Dealer-side service for re-springing; brake swaps and front-brake assembly maintenance are likely shop-level.
Mounting and brake sizing
Select brake width within ~5 mm of ski waist: 86 mm for 80-86 mm, 91 mm for 86-91 mm, 97 mm for 91-97 mm, 102 mm for 97-102 mm, 108 mm for 102-108 mm, 120 mm for 108-120 mm. Tech-insert boots required. The 5 riser positions give finer pitch control than the Crest 8 or Crest 10 (3-position).
