Faction Dancer 106 Ti — Review

The Faction Dancer 106 Ti is the titanal freeride flagship of the reshaped Dancer line for 26/27. It carries the same bones as the outgoing Dancer 3, updated with the new Dancer branding. A 134-106-124 mm sidecut, poplar wood core with two razor-thin titanal sheets, tip and tail rocker and full-strength sidewalls put this ski firmly in charger-freeride territory while remaining playful enough to reward pivots.

At 106 mm underfoot, this is the widest ski in the new Dancer line and clearly biased to soft snow and mixed off-piste. The generous tip and tail rocker floats well in fresh snow, while the dual titanal keeps the ride quiet through cut-up powder and refrozen chop. On firm groomers the 106 mm waist and rocker make it a heavier-turn ski than the narrower Dancer 99 Ti, but there is still real edge grip on hardpack when carried on a strong edge. The radius climbs from 16 m at 164 cm to 23 m at 188 cm — longer arcs feel natural in the longer lengths.

The chassis is Faction's lightweight poplar wood core with Dual Span Titanal, in a directional sidecut with tip and tail rocker. Faction publishes per-length weights of 1890/1970/2050/2100/2150 g per single ski across 164/172/178/183/188 cm, and per-length radii of 16/18/19/21/23 m. Full-strength ABS sidewalls with protective strips and anti-chip micro-cap tip and tail protection round out the build. The 26/27 Dancer 106 Ti is Faction's confirmation that the successful Dancer 3 platform continues under the new line-wide naming.

The Dancer 106 Ti fits advanced-to-expert skiers who want a stable titanal ski for mostly off-piste and mixed conditions. Compared to the K2 Mindbender 108Ti it is a little lighter and more elliptical in the turn; against the Head Kore 106 Ti it trades some of the Kore's dampness for a livelier feel; and next to the Nordica Enforcer 104 it is more freeride-shaped with more rocker, ready for softer conditions rather than firm charging.
