Overview

The Multipista DC 74 Ti FDT is new in Nordica's 26/27 Dobermann DC range: a 74 mm piste ski with a race-inspired waist and Nordica's Energy Ti Double Core, sold as a system with the FDT Race Plate N and a TPX 12 FDT binding (DIN 4–12). Nordica pitches it as a ski "for endless experiences on every kind of piste" — quick from edge to edge on icy morning slopes, but stable enough when the snow gets uneven later in the day. It comes in eight lengths from 150 to 185 cm, a wider spread than most metal piste skis, and sits next to the wider Multipista 80 and the two-sheet, carbon-reinforced Dobermann Multipista DC FDT with its TPX 13 binding.

On-snow performance

At 74 mm this is a frontside ski first. The narrow waist lets it roll from one edge to the other quickly, and the radius scales with length — 13 m at 150 cm, 15 m at 170 cm, 16.5 m at 185 cm — so each skier gets a shape that suits medium turns in their length rather than one fixed GS or slalom radius. Nordica describes the ride as fluid, stable and dynamic; the reason is the Energy Ti Double Core, where a Titanal layer and the Pulse Core elastomer sit between two stacked wood cores to damp vibrations. Expect solid grip on hard snow and a calm feel at moderate to brisk speeds. The full-camber profile Nordica lists keeps the whole edge in contact, which is great on groomers but offers little float or easy pivoting once you leave the piste.

Construction & specs explained

Construction: Energy Ti DC (Double Core Titanal). Materials per Nordica: Performance Wood + Metal + Pulse Core + Sidewall. Factory edge angles are 0.9° base and 87.5° side. The FDT Race Plate N combines a bridge structure for power transfer with a Fast Demo Track for tool-free length adjustment. Sidecut grows with length from 113-74-91 mm at 150 cm to 121-74-99 mm at 185 cm (119-74-97 mm at 170 and 175 cm). Nordica's published pair weights work out to 1350 g per ski at 150 cm, 1730 g at 175 cm and 1850 g at 185 cm.

Who it's for & comparisons

Intermediate to advanced skiers who spend their days on groomed runs and want a damp metal ski that still turns easily — including lighter and shorter skiers, thanks to the 150 and 155 cm sizes. Against the Nordica Spitfire dc 74 pro fdt, the same width in Nordica's previous range, the Multipista adds the Pulse Core DC build in a broader length run. The Atomic Redster q9 is a comparable 75 mm frontside ski aimed at stronger skiers, and the Blizzard Thunderbird r15-76 offers a similar width with a more race-style character. Skiers who want more support in soft snow should look at the Nordica Multipista dc 80 ti fdt.

Pros, cons and verdict

Pros

  • Damp Energy Ti Double Core with Pulse Core elastomer.
  • Quick edge changes from the 74 mm waist.
  • Eight lengths from 150 to 185 cm, each with its own radius.
  • Moderate weight for a metal ski: 1730 g per ski at 175 cm.
  • Tool-free length adjustment on the FDT Race Plate N.

Cons

  • System ski: fixed plate and TPX 12 FDT binding, no touring option.
  • Full camber and a narrow waist limit it off piste.
  • Titanal construction is more than a true beginner needs.
  • Less support in soft, chopped snow than the 80 mm Multipista.

Verdict: A damp, versatile 74 mm piste carver with a wide size range — the Multipista for skiers who stay on the groomers and want quick, secure turns from morning ice to afternoon slush.
