Overview

The Worldcup Rebels e-Speed Pro is the top GS-style carver in Head's Worldcup Rebels line for 26/27, sitting directly below the FIS race skis and above the e-Speed. Head positions it for advanced to expert skiers who want "the performance of a Worldcup race ski with an all-mountain radius", and the brand's World Cup names — Beat Feuz, Matthias Mayer, Didier Cuche and Tina Weirather — are listed on the product page as recommending it. The 26/27 version comes in the new Speed Blue design with a reshaped geometry: 108 mm tip, 65 mm waist and 93 mm tail in all four lengths (170–185 cm), with the radius rising from 18.1 m at 170 cm to 21.7 m at 185 cm. It is sold as a set with a Worldcup race plate and, by default, the Protector+ FF ST 16 GW binding.

On-snow performance

On paper this is a pure high-speed groomer ski. The 65 mm waist and the long radius — 20.5 m at 180 cm — put it in the GS carver class, and the full camber profile (Head lists 0 % tip rocker, 100 % camber, 0 % tail rocker) means the whole edge is in contact with the snow once the ski is tipped over. The construction suggests a very stable, damp ski: a fir/beech wood core, a layer of aluminium alloy (Titanal), Graphene reinforcement and Head's EMC piezo damping in tip and tail all aim at calming vibration at speed rather than at easy pivoting. The narrow 108 mm tip is what Head means with "a new design shortens the turn radius": compared with a wide-shovel GS shape, the ski should enter a turn with less pressure and feel less tiring over a full day. Even so, at 2,310 g per ski (180 cm, without binding) and with a race plate underneath, it wants speed and a committed, forward stance; at walking pace or in short skidded turns it will feel like what it is, a race ski.

Construction & specs explained

  • Core: fir/beech wood core (Head's race construction).
  • Metal: high-quality aluminium alloy layer (Titanal) for power and edge grip.
  • Graphene: used to save weight where the ski does not need mass, keeping the tips agile.
  • EMC: Energy Management Circuit with ceramic piezo plates in the front and rear of the ski, converting vibration into electrical energy to dampen the ski.
  • Sidewalls: durable sidewalls, full-length sandwich build.
  • Base: RD Race Structured UHM C base, Head's fastest race base.
  • Profile: Rebel Camber — 100 % camber, no tip or tail rocker.
  • Plate and binding: Worldcup race plate, sold as a set with the Protector+ FF ST 16 GW (also offered with Freeflex ST 16, Freeflex ST 14 X, Protector+ FF 14 GW, Freeflex 14 GW or Freeflex 11 Race).
  • Dimensions: 108-65-93 mm in every length.
  • Radius: 18.1 m (170), 19.3 m (175), 20.5 m (180), 21.7 m (185).
  • Weight: 2,310 g per ski at 180 cm, without binding (Head's figure, production deviations apply).
  • Lengths: 170, 175, 180, 185 cm.

Who it's for & comparisons

This is a ski for strong piste skiers who carve long, fast arcs and want race-ski stability without buying a FIS ski. Within Head's line, the Head Worldcup rebels e sl pro is the slalom counterpart with a 10.5–13.7 m radius, and the e-Speed (non-Pro) uses the same wood core but ABS sidewalls and fibreglass, a 68 mm waist and a shorter 15–19 m radius. For GS carving with a tighter radius the Head worldcup rebels e gsr (68 mm, 11.9–15.7 m) is more approachable. Outside Head, the Atomic Redster g9 (67 mm, 15–18 m) is the obvious cross-shop with a shorter radius, the Fischer Rc4 noize lt pro (66 mm, 17–19 m) matches it closest on radius, and the Salomon Equipe gs pro (67 mm, 17 m) is the ash-core, race-plate alternative.

Pros, cons and verdict

Pros

  • Full race construction: fir/beech core, Titanal, Graphene and EMC damping.
  • Long 18–22 m radius and 100 % camber for maximum stability at high speed.
  • Narrow 108 mm tip makes turn entry easier than a classic GS shovel.
  • Worldcup plate and Protector+ FF ST 16 GW binding included.

Cons

  • 2,310 g per ski plus plate and binding is a heavy package to carry.
  • The 18–22 m radius is long for narrow or crowded pistes.
  • Demands speed and a strong technique; sluggish at low speed.
  • Only four lengths, starting at 170 cm.
  • Head's top price tier for a non-FIS ski.

Verdict: The e-Speed Pro is the ski for those who want to drive long GS arcs on hard pistes with World Cup-grade damping and edge grip. If you want the same character with a shorter radius, look at the e-Race Pro; if you want it more forgiving, the e-Speed.
