Equipe gs 10 review
Detailed review of the Salomon Equipe GS 10: poplar core, double titanal, 16–18 m radius, Mi12 GW binding. Feel, turns, pros, cons and specs.
Overview
The Equipe GS 10 is the entry point to Salomon's new Equipe race-carve family for 26/27, the line that takes the place of the S/Race models in Salomon's range. It is sold as a system ski with the Mi12 GW binding, so ski and binding come as one package. The shape is pure giant-slalom carver: 68 mm underfoot, 115–116 mm at the tip and a radius that grows with length — 16 m at 170 cm, 17 m at 175 cm and 18 m at 180 cm. Salomon builds it on a full poplar wood core with two sheets of titanal, which makes it the lighter, more approachable sibling of the Equipe GS 12 and Equipe GS Pro.
On-snow performance
On paper, this is a ski for medium-to-long carved turns on groomed snow. A full-camber profile with no tip or tail rocker listed means the whole edge engages as soon as the ski is tipped, and the 16–18 m radius favours open, rounded arcs over quick short swings. The double titanal layer (0.6 mm + 0.4 mm) is there for edge grip and stability on hard pistes, while the 4 mm ABS sidewalls with a 4° angle and full-length sandwich construction are aimed at direct power transfer to the edge. Compared with the GS 12, the poplar-only core and lower sidewall point to a slightly more forgiving, less power-hungry character, which suits skiers who want race-style carving without World Cup demands. In soft snow, bumps or off-piste, the narrow race shape and full camber will feel out of place.

Who it's for & comparisons
The GS 10 fits advanced piste skiers who carve most of the day, ex-racers who want a forgiving everyday GS shape, and ambitious skiers moving towards race-style technique. In Salomon's range it takes the place of the Salomon S race gs 10, with the same 170/175/180 cm lengths. Inside the new line, the Salomon Equipe gs 12 shares the same sidecut and radius per length but adds an ash and poplar core, Salomon's Power Control System cork inserts, 7 mm sidewalls, the P749 plate and the I12 GW binding — more power, more weight. Against the Atomic Redster g9 (67 mm waist, 15–18 m across its lengths) and the Volkl Racetiger gs (67 mm waist, 15–18 m), the GS 10 sits in the same race-carver bracket with a simpler build and a lower package price.
Pros, cons and verdict
Pros
- Classic GS-carver geometry with a radius that scales with length.
- Double titanal over poplar for grip on hard snow.
- Wide steel edge tolerates frequent tuning.
- Binding included, so it is ready to ski in one purchase.
Cons
- Full camber and a 68 mm waist make it a groomer-only ski.
- The shortest length is 170 cm, which is long for lighter skiers.
- Less damping and power than the GS 12 at higher speeds.
- Comes as a set with the Mi12 GW, so the binding choice is made for you.
Verdict: The Equipe GS 10 is a sensible way into Salomon's race-carve line: a proper GS shape with double titanal, without the plate weight and stiffness of the GS 12 and GS Pro. Choose it if you want long carved arcs on groomers and value approachability over outright race power.
