OGSO Ryumon — Review
Overview
The OGSO Ryumon is the Chamonix boutique's 96-98 mm all-mountain freestyle ski from their Scurry Odyssey Series. Verified sidecut per length: 132-96-120 mm at 162 cm (15 m radius, 1650 g), 134-97-122 mm at 172 cm (16 m, 1750 g), 136-98-124 mm at 182 cm (17 m, 1850 g). Available lengths 162, 172 and 182 cm. Manufactured at Kästle CZ.
On-snow performance
At 96-98 mm underfoot with a 15-17 m radius, the Ryumon is a versatile all-mountain shape with freestyle-adjacent playfulness. Weights of 1650-1850 g are moderate for the segment. It handles piste with a snappy medium-radius carve, floats through soft snow off piste, and delivers a playful character in trees and terrain features. The 5 mm underfoot camber balances edge grip with pop.
Construction & specs explained
Core: wood core with reinforcements typical of OGSO's Scurry Odyssey Series construction. Rocker profile with 5 mm underfoot camber, long tip (150 mm) and moderate tail (120 mm). Sidecut varies per length (see above), radii 15-17 m. Available lengths 162, 172 and 182 cm. Manufactured at Kästle CZ.
Who it's for & comparisons
Compared to the Icelantic Pioneer 96 the Ryumon is similar in waist and playful character. Against the Head Kore 94 Ti it is heavier and less directional — the Kore is piste-driven, the Ryumon more playful. Compared to the Volkl Blaze 94 it targets a similar all-mountain segment with a boutique construction approach.
Pros, cons and verdict
Pros
- Verified per-length data across all three lengths (dimensions, radius, weight).
- Versatile 96-98 mm waist handles both piste and off-piste.
- 15-17 m radius accessible for medium-radius carving.
- Boutique Chamonix design manufactured at Kästle CZ.
Cons
- Three lengths (162, 172, 182 cm) — no options for very small or very tall skiers.
- Premium boutique pricing versus mainstream 96 mm all-mountain skis.
- Weights (1650-1850 g) are moderate rather than exceptional for the segment.
- Not built for touring — resort-oriented weight and construction.
Verdict: A boutique Chamonix-designed 97 mm all-mountain freestyle ski for playful skiers who want versatility across piste, powder and trees. Best matched to a technical, playful style rather than piste charging.
