Overview

The Transcend 114 is the widest, heaviest, longest-radius option in Kästle's freeride line — 114 mm under foot, 22.5 m radius, 2,270 g per ski at 185 cm. It's a directional powder charger, intentionally heavy to power through chop and intentionally long-radius to keep wide-open big-mountain lines clean. Twin Rocker, Hook Free both ends, Powerzone Titanal Twin Core.

On-snow performance

In deep snow this ski makes sense — the 22.5 m radius means a wide-open arc through an open bowl, the 2,270 g mass cuts through tracked-up afternoon pow that lighter 114s skip over, and the Twin Rocker keeps the tip up without demanding a tail-back stance. Push it into resort terrain at speed and the mass holds the line through any chop you can throw at it; pull it into a tree line and you'll wish you brought the 104. Edge bite on firm groomers is acceptable but not the point — the 1.3° base bevel and Hook Free tail are made for skidding, not carving. Not a ski for low-speed work or tight terrain.

Who it's for & comparisons

Closest internal sibling is the Kästle Transcend 104 — 10 mm narrower, much lighter and much shorter radius. Cross-shop, the Volkl Revolt 114 is the German playful rival; the Nordica Enforcer 110 free is the Italian directional powder ski at similar width; the Atomic Bent chetler 120 is the wider Austrian alternative with similar charger intent. Among Kästle's lineup, no other ski matches this width.

Verdict: For tall, strong skiers who ski big open lines on heavy-snow days, the Transcend 114 is a tool. Outside that brief — at a smaller resort, in trees, or for one-quiver use — anyone will be happier on the Transcend 104 or 98.
