1000 skis Carve — Review

The 1000skis Carve is the dedicated frontside member of the Swedish boutique brand's four-model line, the only one with a metal laminate. Built at the Åre Ski Factory on 100% hydroelectric power, it pairs the brand's freestyle-pedigree shape DNA with arrow-shaped aluminium reinforcement concentrated underfoot — a "fun carver" with a 93 mm waist and a notably tight 15 m radius at the reference 175 cm, designed to bring carving energy to skiers who otherwise live on twin-tips.

Sidecut radii of 13 m at 161 cm climbing to only 16 m at 181 cm define the Carve's character: this is a short-turn ski, built to hook up edge-to-edge with the kind of energy return the brand's pro-skier founders look for after a season of park laps. The aluminium plate concentrates stiffness underfoot for edge hold while leaving the tip and tail softer for forgiveness. On soft snow the 93 mm waist with a carving-biased flex isn't a powder tool, but a pivot in trees on a firm-snow day is well within the platform's scope. Weight per single ski ranges from 1640 g (161 cm) to 1990 g (181 cm).

The Carve uses a poplar wood core in a pre-preg fibreglass lay-up, reinforced by an arrow-shaped aluminium laminate concentrated underfoot — the only model in the 1000skis line with metal. Sustainability remains: ~50% bio-based topsheet plus 10% recycled, 26% recycled steel edges, Mountain Flow bio wax, and ~28.8 kg CO2 per pair offset via tree planting. Manufactured entirely in Sweden at the Åre Ski Factory on 100% hydropower.

The Carve fits intermediate-to-advanced skiers who want a dedicated short-turn frontside carver with a freestyle-pedigree feel rather than a pure race-stock GS-derived ski. Compared to the Head Kore 94 Ti it has a much shorter radius and a more carving-biased character; against the Armada Declivity 92 ti it is similarly titanal-stabilised but with shorter turns; the Elan Ripstick 96 black edition is a comparable mid-fat with similar all-mountain leanings.
