K2 Mindbender juvy

Overview

The Mindbender Juvy is a youth-focused all-mountain/freeride ski that scales down the freeride capabilities of the adult shape into a kid-friendly package. Offered in 145, 155 and 165 cm, it targets young skiers who already have basic carving skills and want to explore steeper terrain, small jumps and variable snow. The short turning radius and lively feel make it a great progression ski — it builds confidence and technique without feeling overbearing when conditions get bumpy or playful features appear on the run.

Construction and design

Construction blends an Aspen Micro Block core with Hybritech™ hybrid sidewall/cap construction: sidewall underfoot for edge hold and cap in tip and tail to reduce swing weight. The aspen veneer core delivers a good mix of pop and durability, while the tapered tip and tail promote easier turn initiation and reduce hang-ups in soft snow. The flat mounting interface means bindings are sold separately and can be mounted to suit the child’s size and intended use, giving dealers flexibility when setting up the ski.

On-snow performance

On snow the All‑Terrain Rocker profile is obvious: a gradual tip rise that helps the ski float and initiate turns, paired with camber underfoot for rebound and edge contact on firmer snow. The 98 mm waist is a versatile mid-width that handles light powder yet stays agile on groomers. With 127/98/116 mm dimensions and a 14.3 m turn radius at 155 cm, the ski feels short and playful in turns but retains stability when pushed. It’s forgiving for learning tricks yet responsive enough for faster skiing.

Who it's for and comparisons

Who should buy this and how does it compare? The Mindbender Juvy suits intermediate to advanced youth skiers who want more than a basic piste ski — think park laps, small freeride lines and mixed-condition days. Compared with more piste-focused junior models, it has a freeride bias: more float, more pop, and a bit more tolerance in chop. Compared to heavy, race-oriented youth skis, it’s lighter and easier to handle. Shops should match bindings and DIN settings to the child’s weight, ability and boot size for safe, optimal performance.

Specs explained and sizing advice

Specs explained and sizing tips: tip/waist/tail (127/98/116 mm) tell you about float (wider tip/tail help in powder) and turn behavior (narrower waist is quicker edge-to-edge). A 14.3 m radius at 155 cm indicates a relatively short turn radius for quick, playful arcs. Weight (~1,490–1,495 g per ski at 155 cm) affects swing weight and fatigue; lighter skis are easier for kids to launch and maneuver. All‑Terrain Rocker with camber underfoot provides versatility; choose length based on current ability and room to grow rather than pure max height.
