Overview

The K2 Disruption MTi is K2's men's titanal carver from the Disruption piste collection, last listed by K2 as the 2025 model (season 24/25) and now sold off as end-of-line stock. K2 sums it up as "setting the standard for high-speed piste performance". It pairs a 74 mm waist with a Titanal I-Beam, Dark Matter Damping and PowerWall sidewalls, and it was sold with the Marker MXCell 12 binding in 165, 170, 175 and 180 cm. The women's MTi that K2 still lists for 25/26 (K2 Disruption mti womens) shares the 118-74-104 shape but uses an Aspen Veneer core, a 153-180 cm length run and a factory Comp 12 FDT binding.

On-snow performance

K2 describes a medium-length turn radius and a ski that delivers precision and stability through the whole turn, with smooth edge hold and strong power transfer. The 18.1 m radius at 175 cm points to medium-to-long carved turns rather than quick slalom arcs, and the narrow 74 mm waist makes edge changes fast for its length. The Speed Rocker — a short, low rise in the tip — helps it start turns without blurring the edge grip underfoot. At 1836 g per ski (175 cm) it is not light, which on paper adds calm on hard, rough pistes but asks for speed and an active stance. Off the groomers it has little to offer.

Construction & specs explained

  • Core: Maple/Aspen — light, resilient aspen with dense maple for power transfer and stability.
  • Ti I-Beam: a titanal strip running tip to tail along the centre of the ski, shaped for stability and precision.
  • Dark Matter Damping (DMD): a polymer damper sandwiched between two layers of high-modulus carbon, placed along the edge to improve grip on rough and firm snow.
  • PowerWall: oversized ABS sidewalls laminated into the woodcore in the midbody for direct edge power.
  • Profile: Speed Rocker.
  • Shape and numbers (K2): 118-74-104 mm, 18.1 m radius and 1836 g per ski at 175 cm; lengths 165, 170, 175 and 180 cm.
  • Binding: sold as a set with the Marker MXCell 12; the skis themselves are flat (no plate).

Who it's for & comparisons

It suits strong piste skiers who want a stable metal carver for medium-to-long turns and do not need a system plate. The K2 Disruption sti mens is the shorter-radius, narrower Disruption for quicker turns, while the K2 Disruption 78Ti gives more width for mixed piste days. Outside K2, the Head Supershape e magnum is a heavier, shorter-radius frontside alternative, the Nordica Spitfire dc 74 pro fdt brings a similar 74 mm waist on a factory plate, and the Atomic Redster q9 is a race-inspired 75 mm system ski.

Pros, cons and verdict

Pros

  • Ti I-Beam, DMD and PowerWall all aim at grip and stability at speed.
  • 18.1 m radius suits fast medium-to-long carved turns.
  • Flat ski, so binding choice and mounting position stay open.
  • End-of-line stock is often sold well below its original price.

Cons

  • 1836 g per ski at 175 cm is heavy for a 74 mm ski.
  • Demands speed and an active skier; little for relaxed cruising.
  • Narrow waist leaves little float off the groomers.
  • Discontinued: sizes are limited to whatever stock is left.

Verdict: A serious men's piste carver with K2's damping technology; worth grabbing at clearance prices if a remaining size fits you and you ski fast on groomers.
