The Maven 88 CTI is a confidence-building daily driver for intermediate to advanced skiers who split time between groomers and mixed conditions. With a versatile 88 mm waist and all‑mountain rocker (15/75/10), it rolls edge to edge quickly yet feels composed when speeds increase. The personality blends calm damping with a touch of pop, so you can cruise corduroy, lay clean arcs, or dart through bumps without fighting the ski. It prefers a centered to forward stance and rewards good technique, but it’s forgiving enough to keep developing skiers progressing everywhere on the hill.
Construction is the headline. A Power Woodcore of ash and poplar supplies a sturdy platform, while CTI laminates (carbon plus a titanal sheet) add stability and a lively rebound without forcing the ski to feel heavy. At about 1450 g per ski in 165 cm, the Maven stays light underfoot, and the Dura Cap Sidewall grips firmly on hardpack without feeling hooky in the tips and tails. The result is a smooth, quiet ride that mutes chatter better than most sub‑1500 g options, yet still feels energetic from turn to turn.
On edge, the Maven is precise and predictable. Length‑dependent sidecuts and a medium 14–16 m radius let it make short, medium, or longer arcs with minimal input. HRZN 3D tips engage progressively, so turn initiation is effortless even on scraped‑off morning runs. Camber underfoot locks in dependable grip, and the lightly rockered tail provides support through the finish while releasing cleanly when you want to smear or pivot. It won’t pin you into a race‑ski track, but it has more bite than many playful 88‑mm options when the snow gets firm.
In mixed conditions, the Maven’s balance shines. The early‑rise tip plus HRZN 3D surface area help the ski plane in a few inches of fresh and smooth out chopped afternoon piles. At 88 mm, it’s not a deep‑day tool, yet in trees and moguls the quick swing weight and moderate stiffness make it easy to thread tight spaces. Crud performance is very good for the weight; it skims rather than bulldozes. Strong chargers might find a burlier alternative such as a metal‑heavier 88 more planted in refrozen chunder, but they’ll give up some agility.
Specs and fit are straightforward. Rocker profile 15/75/10 equals easy tip engagement (15%), strong edge hold from camber (75%), and a friendly, releasing tail (10%). Sidecut varies by length (tip 115–123 mm, waist 86–88 mm, tail 100–108 mm), shaping quick turn entry and supportive finishes. Radius sits 14–16 m for versatile arcs. Weight around 1450 g per ski balances stability and quickness. Choose true length for all‑mountain balance; size up for more speed and stability. Compared with Black Pearl 88 or Ripstick 88 W, the Maven holds firmer on ice; versus Santa Ana 88, it’s lighter and snappier.
