You can run one ski across an alpine boot for resort days and a tech-insert boot for tour days. The Tecton is tech-insert-only; pin boots required. If you're running a single dedicated touring boot, this doesn't matter; if you want a one-ski-two-boots setup, only the Shift2 supports it.
