Overview
The Elan Wildcat 80 c is the carbon-reinforced Amphibio carver in Elan's 2026/27 women's Wildcat line, the no-metal sibling of the Wildcat 80 Ti and the women's twin of the men's Wingman 80 C. The shape is the Wildcat frontside geometry: 126–127 mm tip, 78–79 mm waist and 109–110 mm tail across the four lengths of 144, 152, 160 and 168 cm, with a radius of 10.0, 11.0, 12.1 and 13.0 m. Under the topsheet Elan pairs its PowerLine Technology and Power Woodcore with a carbon reinforcement, and the ski ships as a complete package on the Shift X plate with the EL 9.0 GW Shift binding (DIN 2.5–9). Elan's pitch is "effortless control and precise manoeuvrability with optimised materials and a narrower footprint to conserve your energy for all-day riding".
On-snow performance
Everything on the spec sheet points to easy carving on groomed snow. The Amphibio profile — a cambered inside edge and a rockered outside edge on each ski — lets the inside edge do the gripping while the rockered outside edge eases the ski into and out of the turn, which is why the box contains a dedicated left and right ski. With a 10–13 m radius and a 110 mm tail, the natural turn is a short carve, and the construction suggests the ski rebounds willingly out of the arc at moderate speed, which is exactly what a progressing skier wants to feel. The carbon layer stiffens the ski torsionally without the mass of a metal sheet, so it should feel light and quick edge to edge; the trade-off against the 80 Ti is that riders can expect more vibration on icy, scraped-off pistes and more deflection in heavy afternoon chop. At 78–79 mm underfoot it tolerates the soft edge of the run, but it is not a soft-snow ski.
Construction & specs explained
- Core technology: PowerLine Technology with a Power Woodcore (Elan describes it as a laminated woodcore).
- Reinforcement: Carbon Reinforcement — UD carbon in place of the 80 Ti's Mono Ti.
- Sidewall: Elan's spec table lists RST Sidewall (Racing Sidewall Technology); its PowerLine text refers to SST slanted sidewalls.
- Base: Sintered High Speed Gliding base.
- Profile: Amphibio Profile, cambered inside edge and rockered outside edge; left and right skis are dedicated.
- System: Shift X plate with the EL 9.0 GW Shift binding, DIN 2.5–9.
- Geometry: 126-78-109 mm (144), 126-78-110 mm (152), 126-79-110 mm (160), 127-79-110 mm (168).
- Radius: 10.0 / 11.0 / 12.1 / 13.0 m.
- Weight: Elan publishes no ski weight for this model.
- The men's Wingman 80 C shares the geometry but adds a 174 cm length and a DIN 3–10 binding; below it, Elan's 2026/27 EU catalog lists a cheaper Wildcat 78 C on a narrower Early Rise Rocker chassis with an extruded base, in 130–170 cm.
Who it's for & comparisons
The Wildcat 80 c suits the intermediate to confident intermediate woman who skis groomers most of the day and wants a light, forgiving carver that is still a real sidewall-and-wood ski rather than a cap-construction rental. The Elan Wildcat 80 Ti is the same shape with a Mono Ti sheet for calmer edge hold at speed; the Elan Wildcat 83 c is the next carbon step up, 81–83 mm wide for more off-piste tolerance. Outside Elan, the Salomon Stance w 80 is the closest single-titanal system ski, with 10–15 m radii across a longer 141–175 cm run; the Nordica Wild belle 78 ca is the obvious carbon rival, a 78 mm ski with tip and tail rocker in 138–168 cm; and the Rossignol Nova 8 is a narrower 75 mm women's carver with similarly short 10–13 m radii for skiers who want an even quicker ski.
Pros, cons and verdict
Pros
- Amphibio asymmetric profile for easy turn entry and release without giving up inside-edge grip.
- Power Woodcore and carbon for a light, quick feel edge to edge.
- Short 10–13 m radii make it one of the quickest-turning skis at this waist.
- Sintered base and a complete Shift X package with the EL 9.0 GW binding.
Cons
- The Shift X system binding rules out touring and any other binding choice.
- No metal means more vibration on ice and more deflection in chop than the 80 Ti.
- Four lengths with a 168 cm maximum leave taller women short.
- Elan publishes no weight, so it cannot be compared on paper with lighter rivals.
Verdict: A light, approachable women's Amphibio carver for skiers who want the Wildcat shape without the demands or the price of the Ti version. Pick the 80 c for relaxed groomer days; step up to the Wildcat 80 Ti if you ski fast on hard snow.
